(1742) SALINAS/MONTERREY – The first weekend of the 17-day Winter Holiday DUI Campaign kicked off this weekend, resulting in the arrest of 23 individuals for driving under the influence. DUI/Driver License checkpoints will be conducted regularly by officers in San Benito and Monterey Counties throughout the holiday season. The campaign is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety. Law enforcement encourages the public to drink responsibly by designating a sober driver or calling a cab, and to keep the community safe by reporting drunk drivers. DUI arrest data collection will continue through midnight Monday, January 3, 2016.
