Any California resident, who can look uphill from their home, and see a recently burned area, is at-risk from flash flooding, debris flow and possible landslides when it rains. That’s because rainfall that would normally be absorbed by un-burned soil, is actually repelled by burned soil. People in those areas, are encouraged to check their local hazard maps….and determine the best evacuation plans for their households.
Many areas also have sandbags stockpiled so that people can pick them up, and use them to help protect their homes.
