A dead whale has been discovered washed ashore on Rio Del Mar State Beach.
The thirty-foot humpback whale washed up Monday afternoon and state parks officials are planning how to move it.
State Parks said it plans to move the whale’s carcass offshore. However, both wind speed and direction need to change before that can happen. The latest word is that it will probably be moved offshore later this week with a towboat.
In the meantime, a crew remains at the beach to keep people away from the carcass. People are also asked not to swim in the area.
