Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Wallach has been appearing recently with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show discussing the false theory that people can get all the nutrients they need from food. Outlining how crops in the U.S. only get NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium). Asserting that humans need 90 essential nutrients for good health. Contend people need to supplement with 60 colloidal minerals, 16 vitamins, 12 amino acids and 2 essential fatty acids.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a study of the effects of fruits and vegetables on heart health. The study found 1 in 7 cases of cardiovasculaar death were due to low fruit consumption. While 1 in 12 cardiovascular deaths were linked to low vegetable consumption. Defining optimal fruit intake as 300 grams and defining optimal vegetable consumption as 400 grams daily.

Stating that accord to the government medical mistakes at hopitals and clinics by doctors is now the 3rd leading cause of death in the U.S. Asserting that over 1.5 million patients are injured, infected or killed by the medical industry every year. Contending that if any other industry harmed that many people the governent would shut it down.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a study of caffiene's effect on heart health. It's been known for several years that coffee and caffiene has positive effects on the heart. This most recent study was designed to see how this positive effect works. Specifically working with a cell cycle inhibitor gene known as mitochondrial p27.
