Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Wallach has been appearing recently with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show discussing muscle and skeleton problems. Stating that osteoporosis of the skull can cause as many as 12 different health challenges. Also discussing peripheral neuropathies. Where nerves in the back and neck can be squeezed. Causing burning or tingling in the legs, feet, arms and hands. As well as tinnitis or ringing in the ears.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding a British study on breast cancer. The study of over 400,000 women in the U.K. found that women who get up early in the day are 40% less likely to have breast cancer compared to women who are night owls. The study also found that women who slept longer than the recommended seven to eight hour are 20% more likely to get breast cancer.

Contending it doesn't happen because eating too much and lack of exercise. Asserting that it happens because of nutritional deficiencies. Also that the condition could be reversed through supplementation.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning a surgeon who made a medical mistake. The surgeon Dr. Ramon Vasquez was assiting with a routine back surgery. But then declared an emergency and removed the woman's healthy kidney. Thinking the kidney was a cancerous tumor. The Florida State Department of Health has filed a complaint against Vasquez following him settling a lawsuit by the patient. He could be fined or possibly lose his medical license.

The study found that women who got laparoscopic surgery instead of the traditional hysterectomy were four times more likely to a recurrence. Even with this new knowledge many cancer centers still have not gone back to the more invasive hyterectomy. Researchers believe it could be that in the laparoscopic the abdomin is pumped full of air so the surgeon can see things.

Telling patients that they had Alzheimer's or other dementias when the people did not have it. In fact one patient upon getting the Alzheimer's diagnosis went home and committed suicide.
