Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Wallach has been appearing recently with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show today discussing the campaign to demonize cholesterol. Dr. Ancel Keyes was hired by Proctor & Gamble to tell people that cholesterol from dairy clogs arteries. Offering Crisco from Proctor & Gamble as a "healthy" alternative. Leading to decades of people being prescribed statin drugs to lower cholesterol.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning mastectomies. Researchers from Stanford University School of Medicine are warning women to be wary of surgeons try to get them to have double mastectomies. The warning that unscrupulous doctors are telling women they have the "breast cancer gene". All to get them to have their breasts removed proactively to "save their lives".

Asserting that a lot of these people are over weight and can't pass the physical. Stating this is due to nutritional deficiencies. Because doctors and the government have it wrong that weight gain is caused by eating too much and lack of exercise.

Researchers found that women who changed their diet have only 20% their consumed calories from fat and increased their intake of fruits and vegetables. These women lowered their risk of dying from breast cancer by 21%. It was unclear whether the lowered fat intake or the increase good foods was responsible for the lowered death risk.

Because taking aspirin puts people at risk of a fatal brain bleed.

Contending instead birth defects are due to nutritional deficiencies in the mother during gestation or conception. Citing the story that there no longer any SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) in North Carolina. Asserting this is because Youngevity lobbied the FDA to require makers of infant formulas to add certain nutrients.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning a study from Columbia University. Researchers found that adding omega 3 fatty acids to the diets of pregnant mice. They reduced the incidence of miscarriages and stillbirths. Finding that the omega 3s inhibited a common bacterium that causes 30% of preterm births. The bacterium is normaly found in the mouth but can get into the blood stream through bleeding gums. Eventually getting to the uterus and placenta and can trigger miscarriage or stillbirth.
