Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Wallach has been appearing recently with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show today discussing the value of doing home lab tests. Asserting that if people do tests for things such as diabetes at home then the results don't end up of their permanent record. Not to mention saving the money that would have been spent on a doctor's office visit. Stating that any tests done at the doctor's office can easily be done at home.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a study of antibiotic use worldwide. Finding that between 2000 and 2015 worldwide antibiotic use increased 79%. Most of the increased use was in low income and middle income countries. In fact in that same time frame the use in the U.S. actually declined. The findings published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Citing other cases where several people were killed without the use of a firearm. Contending these mental instabilities are due to a deficiency of a single nutrient.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news story about Stanford Health Care. Stanford is often held up as the pinnicle of healthcare in California. The Service Employees International Union and United Healthcare Workers West (which represents employees at Stanford Hospital) claim the high rates of infection at Stanford Hospital are because of inadequate staffing and training. The hospital claims the data is old and that this is a strong arm tactic for contract negotiations. The unions contend the data is from 2016 and is correct and not a tactic for negotiations.

Watching patients take drugs and slowly get worse over time. Stating that people are eating poor diets without nutrients. This will cause them to burn through their nutrients more rapidly.

Doug Winfrey and Melissa Golladay a news article about a study depression. In this small study of 67 subjects who were clinically depressed. All involved had unhealthy diets with low intakes of fruits and vegetables, little fiber and lots of sweets, processed meats and salty snacks. Half of the subjects were put on a healthier diets focusing on extra virgin olive oil, nuts, seeds, eggs, fruits, vegetables, fatty fish and grass fed beef. The other half remained on their unhealthy diets. After three months the subjects symptoms were graded on a depression scale. Those on the healthy diet saw scores improve. In fact 32% scored low enough they were no longer considered depressed. The other group saw little to no improvement.
