Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing the importance of consuming antioxidants along with the 90 essential nutrients. Asserting that he has been doing so since he was 9 years old. Contending that it is vitally important that people educate themselves regarding their own health.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news story about a new drug for lupus. The main part of the story is the estimated income for the company making the drug. The first to be approved for lupus by the FDA in over 50 years. However, as is usually the case this new drug named Benlysta only manages symptoms. Doc asserts that the caused of lupus is a gluten intolerance that prevents people from absorbing nutrients.

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing the obituary of George Francis who at death was the oldest person in America at age 112. Doc outlines George's lifestyle living simply in the swamp in Louisiana, catching fish and game and growing his own food. Doc points out that he lived through 19 presidents who only on average live to be 75 with the best of medical care. Also asserting that the doctors caring for those presidents on average only live to be 56 half as many years as George lived.

 

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article on a report from the National Research Council. The report states that when compared to 16 other wealth nations the U.S. ranks last in longevity and healthfulness. While spending more on healthcare than all of the other nations totalling 2.6 trillion dollars annually. Researchers believe this is because several factors from environmental to unhealthy lifestyes and lack of access to healthcare. Doc disagrees asserting it is because a fail medical system has taught the wrong message and the lack of nutrients in the diet.

Doc goes through the article point by point and defines why this diet loaded with grains and oils is not so good. Outlining the benefits of using a "gluten free" diet in addition to consuming nutritional supplements.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss an investigative report that used the Freedom of Information Act to obtain data concerning "Immunization Schedules". Dr. Lucija Tomljenovic finding the UK's Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunization and the Department of Health have been working with the vaccine industry to hide negative trials information from the public. The government and these private industry groups have been withholding negative safety results and data on the effectiveness of vaccines from the public for over 30 years.

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing the four types of dementia. Outlining that vascular dementia is caused by damage or blockage of small arteries in the brain. Korsakov's dementia caused by a vitamin deficiency. Wernike-Korsakov's dementia a vitamin deficiency combined with MS (multiple sclerosis). Finally Alzheimer's a loss of the myalin sheath on neural synapses due to cholesterol deficiencies.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding a study of breast cancer screenings. Researchers from the Yale School of Medicine found that Medicare spends almost as much on breast cancer screening as it spends on breast cancer treatment. Spending$1.08 billion annually on breast cancer screening compared to $1.36 billion on treatments. In fact $410.6 million is spent annually on screenings for women over the age of 75 a controversial group. Many experts believing that depending on an older woman's health has no benefit as some will die of other causes long before breast cancer.

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing some of the history of medicine. Citing a story of how centuries ago herbalists were burned at the stake as witches. Telling the story of Dr. Semmelweis who was a pioneer in antiseptic medicine. Whose ideas were rejected at the time and he was put into a mental institution where he later died. Outlining his own story of how he was fired for discovering that cystic fibrosis is a nutritional deficiency during pregnancy.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article on a growing pattern of doctors and nurses being fired for whistle blowing on overuse of tests and procedures. The Mayo Clinic recently found that doctor burnout rate is at 46% due to hospital mergers and a disconnect between those setting policy and those providing care.
