Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show today discussing cardiovascular disease. Asserting that when he did comparative pathologies he looked at the arteries of meat eaters and vegetarians finding the later had more clogged arteries. Stating this is because they consumed a lot of oils that had oxidized and caused damage to the walls of the arteries. In an effort to repair the artery wall the body put plaque over the damaged areas eventually clogging the artery.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning a study from the University of Taiwan. Researchers fed one group of mice a high fat diet along with an extract from the "Lingzhi" mushroom. Feeding another group only the high fat diet. After two months those getting the mushroom extract didn't gain much weight and their gut bacteria was like that of a thin mouse. While those getting only the high fat diet gained weight and when fed feces from the mice getting the extract their gut bacteria changed to be like that of thin mice.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show discussing congenital birth defects. Asserting that homosexuality, bisexuality and transgender are congenital events that occurred because the mother was nutritionally deficient. Stating that the the hypothalmus was affected causing these outcomes.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning the PSA test. In 2012 the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force recommnended against the PSA test. Stating the test benefits do not outweigh the risks of harm. Now the author of the article Dr. Samadi a board-certified urologic oncologist is saying this is harming people.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show discussing osteoporosis. Stating that MDs often talk to patients about bone loss in leg bones, the and hips. Asserting that people don't often think about osteoporosis of the skull bones. Contending that is why people start looking older because the skull bones begin to shrink allowing the skin to sag and teeth to start to loosen.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a Swedish study of fats. A study of over 4000 people found those with the higher level of "good" polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats were less likely to die from any reason. Consuming fish that contains fatty acids EPA and DHA lowered the risk of death by 20%.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show today discussing athletes who die young. Contending these athletes had depleted their stores of nutrients by sweating them out of their bodies. Citing a few high profile cases of athletes that died from cardiomyopathy heart attacks. Stating that people who excercise and compete should be using the Rebound FX product from Youngevity.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning sugar consumption. The article states four confusing facts about sugar. The first is there are two types of sugar naturally occuring in fruits, vegetables and dairy products. Second the article recommends reading labels because natural sugars and added sugars are combined on food labels. Third people should limit sugar intake the American Heart Association recommends women should have no more than 100 calories daily in added sugar. Fourth people should understand that when drinking fruit and vegetable healthy drinks they are getting natural sugars but no fiber. Fiber helps slow digestion giving the body time to metabolize sugar.
