Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Wallach has been appearing recently with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show today discussing a report that came out a few years ago regarding children. The reports states that children born after 2001 will not outlive their parents. Doc asserts that this is horrible stating someone should go to jail. Contending that people should be screaming in the streets.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding a study of digestive system polyps. Researchers from Emory University studied nearly 2000 participants that were set to get colonoscopies. The participants had no history of any cancer prior to the study. Participants who ate processed meats and red meat were 56% more likely to develop polyps compared to those who ate no or less of these foods. The study found that eating anti-inflammatory foods were less likely to develop polyps in these large intestine or colon.

Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss a news article concerning a study of longevity. Researchers as part of the Harvard Nurses Health Study used satellite images of where nurses across the country live. Noting how close there was greenery such as trees, shrubs and other vegetation. Finding those who live within 820 feet of vegetation had a 12% lower death rate during the study period. These women had a 41% lower death rate from kidney disease, a34% lower death rate from respiratory disease and a 13% lower death rate from cancer.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show announcing that entertainer Prince has died at the age of 57. Asserting that he was a wealthy man who could afford the best medical care. Outlining the circumstances surrounding the death of the star. Apparently he cancelled a concert and was flying home in his private jet. But made an emergency landing in Moline, IL and was treated for flu like symptoms and released a couple of hours later. Only to found dead this morning on the floor of an elevator at his compound. Doc contends the ER doctors must have missed something for the man to be released for flu symptoms and then be dead the next morning.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning a study of heart attack and stroke risk. The study was an analysis of data from 23 previous studies including over 180,000 adults from countries in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. Following participants for between 3 and 21 years checking for heart diseases and incidents of stroke. Finding people who are alone with few social connections who felt lonely and alone. Researchers found those considered lonely have a 23% increased risk of having heart disease and 32% increased risk of stroke.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding a study from the Indiana Alzheimer Disease Center. The study links the use of drugs that contain anticholinergics a chemical compound that stops acetylcholine from working properly in the nervous system. These drugs include Benadryl, Paxil, Zyprexa, Dimetapp and Unisom. People taking these drugs have cognitive decline and problems with memory recall compared to those not taking the drugs.
