Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Wallach has been appearing recently with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show discussing pre-existing health conditions. Stating that the mainstream medical system believes that many common health challenges such as diabetes are genetic. Which would mean that these diseases are hereditary. Thus allow insurance companies call them pre-existing conditions allowing them to charge higher premiums. Doc asserts that these can be dealt with by lifestyle changes and nutritional supplementation. This way it won't be on the permanent record of the patient.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article a Colorado hospital that possibly infected thousands of patients with HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment released a statement that between July 2016 and February 2018 spinal and orthapedic surgery were possibly exposed due to improperly sanitized surgical equipment. This all occured at Porter Adventist Hospital operated by Centura Health in Denver.

Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss a news article a study of exercise. Researchers studied how relevant is the duration of exercise in relation to long term health. The team looked at nearly 5000 adults age 40 and older. They wore devices that tracked how often they moved. Finding that longer sustained bouts of exercise fared no better than those getting shorter stints. They key was the sum total of exercise daily and weekly.

Researchers in Japan found that those with the highest blood levels of vitamin D3 had a 20% reduced risk of all cancers. This falls in line with previous studies in Europe and in America that found similar results. Most people don't get enough sun to have proper levels of vitamin D3 so it is necessary to supplement.

Because it includes oils as a main part of the diet. Contending these oils oxidize and cause inflammation in the human body. It's well known that inflammation can be linked to many common disease states.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning a study that links some drugs to asthma and allergies. The study of nearly 800,000 children found that 8% of all children got a prescription for acid suppressive therapy. Researchers found an increased risk of allergies when children were H2 blockers or proton pump inhibitors during infancy. While antibiotics during infancy is tied to a two fold asthma risk.
