Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news story regarding hearing loss in babies. Most states require new borns to have auditory tests prior to leaving the hospital after birth. Unfortunately some fail the tests because they have auditory neuropathy. With this disorder the sound enters the ear normally but the transmission of the signal to the brain becomes distorted.
