Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning a study on vitamin B12 deficiencies. The study published in the journal Neurology found an association between vitamin B12 and memory and thinking problems, as well as brain shrinkage. Previous studies also found that those consuming more foods contain this vitamin were less likely to develope Alzheimer's than those who don't consume those foods.

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing a news story in the Wallstreet Journal regarding Americans shrinking in stature due to osteoporosis.

The study found that by the time most Americans hit age 80 they have shrunk 2 inches. Doc contends the cause of this is nutritional deficiences.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a study that found people with diabetes have twice the risk of developing Alzheimer's and other types of dementia. According to American Diabetes Association 25.8 million Americans have diabetes with another 79 million with prediabetes. Doc contends that type II diabetes is preventable and reversible through diet, lifestyle and nutritional supplementation.

A study of 77,000 obese patients found that those who had undergone obesity surgery had double the risk of colon cancer than that of the general population. Second they discuss a news article concerning a study that found astronauts are exposed to high-energy radiation that could pose a possible long term health risk for colon cancer.

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing a breaking news story about a multiple stabbing at a college in Texas. One individual stabbed 14 students for unknown reasons. Continuing to cite several famous incidents where indviduals killed several other people. Contending that none of the of these incidents involved guns but did involve mentally unstable people.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news story regarding resident physicians. Two years ago the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education mandated that resident doctors be limited to 16 hours shifts. All in an effort to curb the numbers of medical mistakes. Two recent studies have found that despite fewer hours worked the numbers of medical mistakes have gone up by 130% to 200%.
