Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Wallach has been appearing recently with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

Monologue

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing all of the medical errors that occur in the U.S. every year.  Each year 5.8 million Americans are injured, killed or infected in hospitals.  Additional 9.2 million are injured, killed or infected in clinics and doctor's office settings.  This totals to 15 million Americans are injured, killed or infected in the U.S. and not one OSHA ticket is issued.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss two news articles concerning doctors and medical errors.  The first concerns a doctor who relinquished his medical license after he was accused of writing several pain kill prescriptions to just 5 people with no explanation.  Second Doug and Doc discuss an article concerning protection against wrong site, wrong side and wrong patient surgeries.

Nurse Joanne Conaway fills in for Dr. Wallach.  Joanne starts the show discussing the CDC's recently released list of ten what they call the "necessary vaccinations".   Some of which Joanne agrees with and other such as HPV vaccine for all women under the age of 26.

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing a couple of recent news stories.  The first concerns Medicare fraud where deceased doctors medical ID numbers were used to defraud the government out of 92 million dollars.  Second Doc discusses a report that is trying to link global warming with an increase  kidney stones.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a story about a woman whose family had a history of breast cancer.  Due to her fears and her doctor's urging she had both her breasts removed to avoid getting breast cancer.  Doc asserts that it is impossible to remove all of the breast tissue and as long as some tissue remains so does the risk of breast cancer.

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing all of the lay-offs in various parts of the U.S.  Asserting that much of this is due to the extremely high cost of health care for workers.  Doc contends that people should prepare themselves by gaining knowledge about their own health as well as starting a home-based business with Youngevity.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding fibromyalgia.  A doctor quoted in the article contends that this disease is thought to be either a sleep disorder and not enough exercise or a reaction to trauma.  Also contending that there is no cure for fibromyalgia.  Dr. Wallach strongly disagrees asserting that the same disorder under another name was cured in animals in the 1950's.
