Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss recent research from Canada concerning the relationship between stress and recurring heart attacks. Following 1000 patients they found that patients with stressful jobs are %200 more likely to have a second heart attack.

Dr. Wallach starts todays show discussing the poor economy in the U.S.  Describing the various financial and tax benefits of owning a home-based business.  Doc recommends starting a Youngevity or Drink ACT business to help create the multiple income streams that are needed in todays world.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning a recent government study.  Researchers were trying to prove that NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammory drugs) could prevent the onset of Alzheimer's.  This government funded study proved that the drugs Aleve and Celebrex had "no benefit".  In fact another study along with this study were halted because of links to increased risk of heart attack and stroke in those taking the drugs.

Dr. Wallach begins the show today discussing the recession type of economy in the U.S.  Asserting that a home-based business is a good way to off-set rising fuel and healthcare costs.  Also outlining the various tax benefits of owning a business.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news story concerning a couple of kidney transplants that resulted death and serious illness.  Two people in Boston were given kidneys from a homeless man one woman died and a man is in critical condition.  Turns out the donor carried a virus known as LCMV that isn't detected by the normal screening tests.  In 2005 three other kidney transplant recipients died from the same virus.

Dr. Wallach starts today's show discussing the rising fuel prices.  Contending that gas could hit 10 dollars per gallon at some point so it is important to start preparing now by building multiple income streams.  Outlining several of the benefits of owning a home-based business.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss plans by the city of New York to dispatch ambulances equipped to preserve bodies so that families would have time to give consent on organ donations.  Current procedures don't get corpes to the hospitals fast enough when patients die outside of a hospital setting.  The problem is that not only would ambulance crews be making decisions about deaths.  They would also have to preform procedures to preserve the organs but without family consent.
