Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing medical errors involving drugs. Outlining some of the statistics of how many Americans are harmed every year. Contending that many errors are due to doctors prescribing drugs that interact negatively with other drugs. Also asserting that if the doctor doesn't make a mistake it's possible for the pharmacist to manke an error either in dosage or compounding.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding the outbreak of meningitis. To date 26 people have been sickened in five states with four dying. These deaths have been attributed a non-contagious fungal form of meningitits. Coming from injectable steroids to treat pain and inflammation.

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing the fact that the U.S. now ranks number one in the world in obestiy. Citing statistics that reveal the percentage of obese Americans has doubled in the past 20 years. Also outlining that experts are predicting that 50% of adults in the U.S. will be obese in coming years. Asserting that weight gain and obesity are not problems of excess as normally thought but rather due to nutritional deficiencies.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding a study on beta blocker heart drugs. The researchers found that taking beta blockers do not does not reduce the risk of future heart attacks or strokes compared to patients who do not take them. Doug outlines the long long list of side effects. Doc lists several ways that blood pressure can be lowered and controlled through nutrition.

Dr. Wallach starts the show today discussing the medical care system in the U.S. on how we don't get much bang for our buck. Citing statistics regarding this system where the U.S. ranks first in obesity. Ranking 41st in the world in infants first year survivability while ranking 60th overall in health and longevity. But spending more on healthcare than all of the other nations combined.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding a report from the Institute of Medicine. The report stating that evey year in the U.S. 750$ billion are wasted within the healthcare industry. In fact the basic thrust of the article is that the medial system operates much like any other industry. As a for profit industry rather than focusing on patient care and disease prevention to save money.

Dr. Wallach starts the show today discussing heart disease. Outlining the various types of heart disease and citing the nutritional deficiencies that cause those disease states. Contending that most heart issues are preventable and reversible.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning an anecdotal study on heart disease. The small study looked at data from the Women's Health Initiative study and found a cursery link between calcium supplements and an increased risk for heart attacks. One of the original study authors however found the link to be weak and possibly just a coincidence.

He then tells the story of former NBA star Theo Ratliff who extended his career an additional twelve years after being told his career was over.

Billy Graff and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding a study on exercise helping to keep middle aged people healthy. What the study does not point out is that exercise without supplimentation is bad for the body because it depletes the body of minerals .
