Nurse JoAnn Conaway fills in for Dr. Wallach.  JoAnn discusses recent research on the antioxidant qualities of dark chocolate.  Asserting that chocolate has the highest ORAC value of any food.  Even more antioxidant capacity than fruits and vegatables.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and JoAnn Conaway discuss a study published in the Journal Lancet.  The study looked at fish consumption of nearly 12,000 pregnant British women.  Finding that those who ate at least 2 to 3 servings a week had smarter children with better developmental skills and higher verbal IQ scores.

Dr. Wallach begins the show discussing brain health.  Outlining several of the Youngevity products that promote good brain health.  Particularly pointing out a recent study that found a correlation between selenium blood levels and memory.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a recent Swedish study on heart health and coffee consumption.  The study found that women who drank at least 5 cups of coffee weekly had a 32% reduced relative risk of having a heart attack c ompared to women who consumed 0 to 4 cups weekly.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and JoAnn Conaway discuss a recent study that found drugs ads might actually be negatively affecting people's lives.  The study found that 85% of drug ads emphasized gaining control of some aspect of life.  A separate survey found that most doctors will prescribe drugs that aren't appropriate just because the patient asked for the drug.
