Dr. Peter Glidden fills in for Dr. Wallach starting the show discussing the failed medical system. Asserting that cholesterol lowering drugs are not slowing rates of heart disease in the U.S. These statin drugs are the biggest selling drugs world wide and netting pharmaceutical companies 25$ billion in the U.S. alone.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Glidden discuss a news article concerning a CDC study on cholesterol levels lowering in the last two decades. Using government data researchers determined that overall blood cholesterol levels of dropped over the past twenty years. Attributing the drop to lifestyle changes of avoiding trans fats and taking lipid reducing drugs. Doug and Dr. Glidden ask if this is such a good thing why hasn't the rates of heart disease also dropped.

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing the problem of obesity and weight gain in America. Citing technilogical advances as some of the reason behind this change. Starting with advances in heating and cooking so there were no longer wood ashes that used to be put in gardens. Then most people are now eating a lot of preprocessed foods that are full of preservatives and sugars.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding a report on health care costs. The cost to insure a family of four has doubled in less than ten years. Health insurance for the average family is now pushing $20,000 a year. Add to that employers are scaling back on how much they pay towards theses costs.

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing cholesterol levels. According to a recent study in the past two decades Americans have lowered their overall cholesterol levels. Despite recent studies that have indicated there is no real connection between blood cholesterol levels and heart disease medical experts are heralding this as good news. But it begs the question if cholesterol levels are related to heart disease and levels have lowered why is heart diseasse still the number one killer of Ameicans?

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning a study on multivitamins. The study from Harvard Medical School is the first to examine a multivitamin in one group and compare the group to a placebo group. The findings published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found an 8% lower risk of cancer among the group taking the multivitamins.
