Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Wallach has been appearing recently with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

Using a computer prediction analysis that correlated fine particle and ozone pollution levels between 2000 and 2012 with death rates among the elderly. Finding the more polluted the air the more likely there will be premature death among older populations.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show today discussing mineral deficiencies. Stating that minerals are no longer found in our foods. But contending they used to be in our soils as a result of rivers flooding valley basins. Once countries started building dams on major water ways flood control stopped the flooding of valley basins. Asserting this is why it is necessary for people to supplement their diets.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a Japanese study of nutritional deficiencies. The small study found that people who suffered anxiety or panic attacks were deficient in vitamin B6 and iron compared to healthy people. Doc asserts that all 90 essential nutrients are necessary for proper brain health.

Stating that there are more natural ways to ward off influenza. Such as making sure to ramp up on vitamin C. Also contending that fresh pineapple juice is great for overcoming the flu.

Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss a news article about a new fad diet. This diet is called the water fasting diet where dieters only comsumed water several days or weeks at a time. Although Ben is a big fan of fasting he doesn't agree with fasting more than a day or two. The authors of the article warn against this diet because dieters aren't getting any vitamins and few minerals.
