Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Wallach has been appearing recently with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article on olive oils. Researchers at U.C. Davis tested the top selling olive oils in California. Finding that 70% of the oils are adulterated, oxidized and rancid. Many of the oils labeled extra virgin had been adulterated with lower quality cheaper olive oils. In some cases the added oils weren't even olive oil.

Now they are calling high fructose corn syrup fructose or fructose sugar to fool consumers into thinking the product is healthy. The newly named sweetener contains 90% fructose while the old one only contained 42 to 55% fructose.

Asserting that this is because of poor diets and lifestyles without nutritional supplements. Contending that the nutrients aren't in the food any longer. Stating that their are only three minerals added to the soils that crops where crops are grown.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article that outlines ways to lose weight. Some of the tips are pretty lame like brushing your teeth after dinner so you mouth will have that minty taste and you're less likely to eat. Smaller plates so your portions will be smaller and filling half of your plate with fruits and vegetables. Eating foods that have a lot of water in them like apples, celery, kiwis and cucumbers. Eating eggs because they are low in calories and high in protein meaning people would be less likely to eat other less healthy foods.
