Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Wallach has been appearing recently with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

Doc always recommends that all women of childbearing age should be supplementing with all 90 essential nutrients before conceiving. Contending that recommending only 3 nutrient for pregnant women is ridiculous.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning a study of heart disease. The incidence of heart disease has declined 20% between 1999 and 2014. But this decline is not across the board in all income groups. The decline is seen in only the rich and middle class. It did not change much in the poor those whose annual income is $24,600 annually for a family of four.

Outlining a specific case of a woman who took her child to an ER after the child suffered a seizure. She purposely went to a hospital that was in network for her insurance plan. Later receiving a $3000 anesthesiology bill because the anesthesiologist was not in her network.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning canola oil. The article states that in 1956 the FDA banned it for human consumption because of high levels of erucic acid. Then growers developed genetically modified rapeseeds with lower levels of erucic acid. Changing the name to canola oil for marketing reasons and touting it as a healthy alternative to natural saturated fats from butter, lard or coconut oil.
