The study results indicate these runners are no more likely to die from a heart attack than the general public. Doc asserts that any deaths due to cardiomyopathy heart attacks are not acceptable. Contending this type of heart attack are caused by a selenium deficiency.

The study found that people who had a ST-elevation myocardial infarction in a hospital setting had a three fold greater risk of dying compared to those who had an attack outside of the hospital. Those in the hospital also had longer stays and paid more money.
