The study gave some participants a Fasting Mimicking Diet (FMD) a diet low in proteins and calories, others were given a regular diet. Those getting the FMD diet showed a significant reduction in the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease and cancer. The also lost weight and lowered their blood sugar levels.
