Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show today discussing failed medical theories. Going back to when people believed that disease was caused by evil spirits. Many later believed it was whether the Gods like them or not. Then it was the four basic humours were out of balance which led to blood letting. Later on it was bacteria, then viruses and now genetic. Doc asserts they are all failed theories and disease is linked to inflammation which is due to nutritional deficiencies.Pearls of Wisdom
Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article about a study of fast food. Researchers gave a group of South Africans a fast food diet of meat and fried foods for two weeks. At the same time they gave African American in Pittsburgh a typical African diet of cornmeal, porridge and root vegetables. After two weeks the group eating the western diet were producing half of a substance called butyrate which helps the body reduce inflammation. The group eating the African diet their microbiomes were producing twice the amount of butyrate than before the change.Callers
