Monologue

Nurse Joanne Conaway fills in for Dr. Wallach.  Joanne starts todays show discussing a study that linked a lowered heart attack and stroke risk in people with normal cholesterol levels to taking the statin drug Crestor.  With the study author saying this means at least another 10 million people should be on the drug.  However Joanne points out that the study was funded and desgined by the company who makes Crestor.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Joanne Conaway discuss two news stories.  The first regards a survey that found more and more families are eating meals together at least 5 days a week.  These families also tended to eat heathier diets than families who did not eat together.  The second article concerns another study that found children as young as 2 years old were already forming food preferences.  These preferences also tended to mimic the diets of the children's parents.
