The story oultines a specific case of a woman who had lower back pain and her surgeon recommenced disk replacement surgery. Following the procedure the woman was in terrible pain, could only walk with the aid of a walker and required a second procedure to fix the first. The woman later found that her surgeon had financial ties to the company that made the replacement disk.
