Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss warning out from the FDA. This concerns a class of diabetes drugs known as SGLT2 inhibitors. Patients taking these drugs are at risk of the infection known as Fournier’s gangrene. The extremely rare but life threatening bacterial infection under the skin in the area around the genitals. There has been 12 cases since 2013 the same year the drugs approved. There are 7 men and 5 women with one death.
