Monologue

Dr. Wallach starts the show today discussing the poor breakfasts that are eaten by most kids these days.  Citing a recent survey that found that on average breakfast cereals being marketed to children have 52% more sugar than those intended for adult consumption.  Doc asserts that all of the sugar slows mental development.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a recent report from the "Physicians Health Study" at Harvard.  The study found that diabetic doctors who ate any eggs had twice the risk of dying during the 20 year study.  They also found that non-diabetic doctors who ate more than 6 eggs weekly had a 23% increased risk of dying during the study period.  However, the researchers noted that "egg consumption was not associated with heart attack or stroke."
