Monologue

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show discussing weight loss. Contending the medical system and government have failed us. By telling people if they eat right and exercise they won’t gain weight. Now after following that advice Americans lead the world in being over weight and obese.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article on PSA (prostate specific antigen) tests. In 2012 U.S. Preventative Services Task Force put out new guidelines regarding PSA tests. Recommending that men should not undergo routine screening for prostate cancer at any age. Stating the tests are not reliable enough at detecting prostate cancer. Contending the harms of the test such as false positives do not outweigh potential benefits. A recent study looked at medical records at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center between 2010 and 2015. Finding since the new guidelines were release the number of PSA tests performed has not gone down.
