Monologue

Dr. Wallach discusses a recent series of articles concerning arthritis. The most recent article contends that there is no known cause for osteoarthritis. Dr. Wallach disagrees stating that osteoarthritis is a nutritional deficiency disease. Namely a mineral deficiency that causes the body to start drawing calcium out of the bones.

Pearls of Wisdom

Dr. Wallach and Doug discuss a couple of news articles. The first article concerns a study done at the Yale School of Medicine. Researchers found that those in the age range 51 to 61 who lost their jobs were twice as likely to have a heart attack or stroke. The next article concerns a report from the American Heart Association that contends the rate of diabetes has doubled in the last 30 years. Experts asserting the rise is due to obesity. Dr. Wallach disagrees contending that although the two go hand in hand one does not cause the other.
