Monologue
Dr. Wallach discusses a news article concerning the treatments for juvenile and rheumatoid arthritis. The article contends that the causes are unknown. Doc asserts that this theory is wrong and outlines what he believes are the causes. He then goes on to explain his opinion on how these two diseases should be treated.
Pearls of Wisdom
Dr. Wallach and Doug discuss a couple of news articles regarding cancer. The first concerns a family where 11 members had their stomachs removed as a preventative measure against getting stomach cancer. The second article concerns research done at the University of North Carolina that found pre-menopausal black women were nearly twice as likely to have a deadly form of breast cancer. This when compared to white women of the same age range. Doc disagrees with both stories saying that cancer is not genetic.
