Also discussing cardiomyopathies and the fact that this is caused by a selenium deficiency just like CF. He then outlines an upcoming telethon to raise money for MD (muscular dystrophy).

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning a study of knee surgeries for bone on bone arthiritis of the knee. The study from the University of Helsinki in Finland and published in the New England Journal of Medicine. The study of 144 individuals with knee pain but no known knee injury. Half actually had surgery to repair a torn meniscus the other half got a fake surgery. Researchers found that there was no evidence that those who got the surgery faired any better than those who got the fake surgery.
