This practice has been tauted by MDs since the 1980s offering it as a way to prevent future heart attacks. The study found that although taking aspirin may prevent some heart attacks over a 10 year period. In the same period 46 to 49 major bleeds and 68 to 117 gastrointestinal bleeds occurred.
