Dr. Wallach starts the show today discussing the "millennials" young people born between 1981 to 2000. Citing poll numbers that show once they found that they are set to bear the brunt of the cost for the Affordable Care Act they aren't happy. They are younger and less likely to need care for some years. However they will be paying the bulk of the Act for the elderly and poor. Doc asserts these people should enroll in catastrophic plans with high deductables. Also inviting them to start a home-based business through Youngevity to create an additional income stream to help the pay for Obamacare.
Pearls of Wisdom
Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss two news articles regarding dementia. The first article cites a report from advocacy group Alzheimer's Disease International (ADI). Predicting an impending epidemic of 135 million with dementia globally by 2050. The report states the most common form of dementia is Alzheimers. A second news article regarding a recent study found rats given a diet low in vitamin D developed free radical brain damage affecting their cognitive abilities. Previous studies have also shown vitamin D deficiencies have been linked to increased risk of Alzheimers. Doug asserts that the human body uses cholesterol to make vitamin D. Doc contends that doctors heavily prescirbing cholesterol lowering drugs have caused the impending Alzheimer's epidemic.
