Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning studies of fast food's effects on the brain. A study from the University of Toronto offered to give people a small cash reward the next day or a larger payout a week later. Those who were asked while in a fast food line were 40% more likely take the quicker payout compared to people asked in a full service restaurant. Connecticut College study found that rats offered Oreo cookies, cocaine or morphine were just as attracted to the cookies as the drugs. In fact when researchers examined the rat's brains they found those getting the cookies showed greater pleasure center activation than those getting the drugs.
