Monologue

Pharmacist Ben Fuchs fills in for Dr. Wallach starting the show discussing the growing problem of obesity and weight gain. Contending that weight gain can be generally tied to the consumption of sugar. Asserting that humans are "hard wired" to seek out sugar that's why it's so difficult to abstain from eating sugary foods. Stating that the way to reduce these cravings is to consume nutrients.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss a news article concerning a study of high fat and high sugar foods. This small study found that a study of mice found that Nabisco's Oreos cookies are as addictive as cocaine and morphine. Researchers also found that the pleasure center of the mice's brains were stimulated in a similar fashion to that of cocaine and morphine.
