Monologue
Dr. Wallach starts the show today discussing medical mistakes. This in light of a recent news release from the government stating that Medicare starting next year will no longer pay for medical mistakes. The mistakes such as infections, wrong-site-surgeries, wrong drugs etc. will be paid for by hospitals.
Pearls of Wisdom
Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a couple of recent news articles. The first concerns problems with the 2006 FDA mandate requiring food manufactorers to state trans fat levels in packages. Under the rules the package can claim "no trans fats" only if levels are less than a half gram per serving. The problem is that most packages contain more than one serving and people often eat two to three servings at a time. Second Doug and Doc discuss a recent report that claims deer hunting is harder on the heart that walking on a treadmill.
