Dr. Wallach starts the show introducing his new "side-kick" Char Murphy. Doc and Char discuss a few cases of people who had been told by their medical doctor "we just can't do anything" to help. Like a man who was in a wheel chair due to ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) who is now walking unaided. Or another man who was on a heart transplant list and has now been taken off that list.
Pearls of Wisdom
Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning a study of the hand washing practices of the general public. The study found that only about 5% of people wash their hands properly. According to the CDC a proper hand wash should take 15 to 20 seconds with soap and vigorous scrubbing. The study also found that women were better at it than men and only two of every three actually uses soap. CDC also says that 50% of all food caused illness is due to improper hand washing.
