In fact Doc was able to creat monkeys with cystic fibrosis by withholding selenium from the mother's diet. However that only got him fired from the Yerkes Primate institute because they wanted grant money.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news story regarding a study by the NIH (National Institute of Health). Researchers found that women with at least 20 nanograms per milliliters of vitamin D in their blood had a 32% lower risk of developing uterine fibroids. Each increase of 10 nanograms per milliliter in vitamin D was associated with a 20% lower risk of fibroids.
