Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing the history of illnesses. Outlining how ancient cultures believed that illness was caused by evil spirits. Citing stories of how herbalists were burned at the stake because doctors thought they were witches. Then humors after that germs caused all disease according to doctors. Following the discovery of viruses doctors then thought that was the cause of disease. Doctors moved on to believe many diseases were genetic. Doc asserts most are nutritional deficiencies and can be prevented and reversed.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article that outlines a story involving an ER doctor who watched his mother die. The doctor was called to his mother's bedside after she was diagnosed with neutropenic sepsis. Studies has shown that early and aggressive treatments during the first 24 hours are crucial for patient survival. The doctor in the story watched as his mother's doctors did not start a sepsis protacol until 23 hours after she was admitted to the hospital. Within a week his mother was dead illustrating that even those working within the medical industry can still be victims of a broken medical model.
