Monologue
Dr. Wallach starts todays show discussing a plan by the American Veteranarian Association. The plan is to bring their knowledge of common diseases in the animal world that also occur in humans. Hoping to work with the CDC to prevent many common health challenges with nutrition and supplementation as is done in veteranary medicine. Doc asserts that he hopes it works but will be surprised as he tried the same thing back in the 1960's and the mainsteam medical industry wasn't interested.
Pearls of Wisdom
Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a couple of news stories cocerning doctors in trouble. The first concerns a doctor in the UK who led a study in the late 1990's that linked MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccines to autism. The effect of his research was a 10% drop in vaccinations of children. Now the General Medical Coucil is bringing charges of professional misconduct against him. The second article concerns a Virginia doctor who has been charged with 16 counts of drug trafficking. One patient was getting 1600 pills a day.
