Pharmacist Ben Fuchs fills in for Dr. Wallach.  Ben starts the show disussing the importance of hormones for good health.  Asserting that correct hormone levels are important for good thyroid function.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss a couple of recent news articles.  The first concerns a survey released by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemology.  The survey found that at any one time 30,000 patients in hospitals and nursing facilities have the "superbug" Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.  Researchers concluding that 46 out of every 1000 patients has the bug.  Due rates of infection of identified patients the researchers also concluded that 75% of patients that had the bug actually walked in already infected.  Next Doug and Ben discuss a study that found a direct correlation between waist size in older men and urinary tract dysfunction.
