Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing Celiac disease. Contending that it used to be only found in babies. Asserting that it is an intolerance to gluten. Citing research from the Mayo clinic it is now estimated that as much as 30% of Americans have the disease.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a research study published in the New England Journal of Medicine. Researchers found that the antibiotic rifaximin can alleviate symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome. Leading them to conclude that IBS is caused by a bacterial infection. Doc disagrees contending IBS is a more severe form of Celiac disease.
