Pharmacist Ben Fuchs fills in for Dr. Wallach. Starting the show discussing a news article about New York city trying to outlaw sodas and popcorn in movie theatres. Namely because of a belief that these products are contributing to weight gain and obesity. Ben asserts that rather than government being involved people should be accountable for their own actions.

 

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss a news story regarding a Danish study of contraceptive measure looking for links to heart attacks and strokes. Researchers looked 1.6 million women over a 15 year period studying the pill, vaginal rings, intrauterine devices, subcutaneous implants, skin patches and intramuscular injections (Depo shots). Finding that any of the measures containing estrogen were linked to increased risk of heart attack and stroke.
