Monologue
Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing dementia. Citing a study that found increased blood levels of essential fatty acid omega 3 lowered levels of amyloid proteins. Amyloid proteins have been associated with Alzheimer's disease.
Pearls of Wisdom
Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a report published in the Pediatrics journal. Researchers at Havard Medical School found that four out of every five children hospitalized in the U.S. are given drugs that have not been tested in children. The story outlines drugs that react differently in children than in adults. Not to mention since these drugs have not gone through clinical trials in children the dosing is a guessing game.
