Dr. Wallach starts the show outlining the fact that despite all of the billions of dollars spent on healthcare in the U.S. Americans don't live as long as many other peoples in the world. Doc cites several statistic out of his "Immortality" book where he researched long lived peoples around the world and identified common threads that lead to long life.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news a story regarding a study from Thailand. Researchers found that heart patients undergoing non-emergency bypass surgery who were given curcumin (the yellow pigment in the spice turmeric) before and after surgery had a reduced risk of post surgery heart attack. Half of the patients were given 4 grams of curcumin three days before surgery and five days following. The other half of the patients were given a placebo. Researchers determined those getting curcumin had a 65% reduced risk of a heart attack.
