Dr. Wallach starts the show outlining the various types and causes of dementias. Citing a study done on Mormons in Utah who were following the Mormon diet and lifestyle. Researchers add vitamins E and C to their tradional diet. Finding this reduced the risk of Alzheimer's disease by 78%.

 

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news story on celebrity Michael Cannon's diagnosis of lupus. He contends that lupus is attacking his kidneys. The article states that the cause of lupus is unknown but experts believe there is a genetic component involve. Doc disagrees asserting that lupus along with IBS, Crohn's, diverticulits and celiac disease are all manifestations of gluten intolerance. Contending these can be reversed by going on a gluten free diet and using nutritional supplementation.
