Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning a goverment report. Most people will be shocked to learn that the GAO (Government Accountability Office) is reporting that 40% of all pharmaceuticals in the U.S. are manufactured overseas in countries like India and China. While 80% of all ingredients used to make drugs, including ones made in the U.S. come from overseas. The FDA has only inspected 11% of the facilities producing these drugs or ingredients. The most common OTC (over-the-counter) drugs like asprin come almost entirely from China. Acid reflux drug Prilosec is made in Puerto Rico and Inda.
