Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss two recent news articles the first concerns billing practices of some California hospitals. A recent report from a two year study found that hospitals charged uninsured low income patients up to threes more than what they were charging private insurers or government programs such as Medicare. The second story comes out of China and concerns patients and relatives reactions to hospital overcharges and fraud. The Chinese people began attacking doctors, nurses and healthcare workers at such an alarming rate the government is sending police into hospitals to protect the workers.
