Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing proposed Medicare and Medicaid cut backs. Some in Congress are advicating limiting government paid hospital stays to just 10 days a year. After the 10 days the patient will be responsible for additional costs.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding an 82 year old woman's experience after she fell in a Canadian hospital. The women was in the hospital visiting her dying husband when she slipped and fell breaking her hip. She was less than 50 yards from the emergency room. A security guard came to her aid a notified ER nurses. The nurses explained the women needed to call an ambulance and that EMTs whould have to bring her to the ER. The woman laid on the floor in the hospital awaiting EMTs for over a half an hour.
