Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a recent report from the independent health care ratin company HealthGrades. The report looked at 40 million Medicare hospitalization records for a 3 year time frame. Finding that 1.16 million patients experienced "patient safety incidents". Of those in the study who experienced an error 25% had a chance of dying. These errors also cost hosptials 8.6 billion dollars over the three year period.
